Is Your Partner Pregnant?

Three little words that can turn your life upside down. “I am pregnant.” The thought was always in the back of your mind, but you never dreamt you would hear her say it.

Now, what do you do? We’ve got a few tips for getting through this together:

Has She Confirmed Her Pregnancy?

A missed period and a positive pregnancy test may not be all you need to confirm she’s pregnant. Experts estimate as many as 26% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. It’s entirely possible to get a positive pregnancy test result even after a miscarriage. Have her confirm the pregnancy.

Start by getting free and confidential pregnancy testing at the Pregnancy Help Center. If the test is positive, we can schedule her for an ultrasound. An ultrasound exam can determine if her pregnancy is growing or if she has miscarried. She’ll also get other valuable information.

Discuss Your Options

Once she has confirmed the pregnancy, it’s time to discuss your options. Although we don’t perform or refer for abortions, we can give you evidence-based information about procedures, side effects, and potential risks. We’ll also provide information about making an adoption plan or choosing to parent.

Ultimately, how to handle the pregnancy is her decision, but your opinion matters. Let her know how you feel.

Talk With Her

Don’t only talk with her about the situation; but also listen to her. Keep the lines of communication open. Don’t emotionally check out and tell her to do what she wants to do. Be honest and let her know you’re as scared as she is.

It’s essential to talk with both your parents and others affected by your decision. You may be surprised by the support that comes your way.
