Have You Taken a Pregnancy Test?

A late period and some unusual symptoms may indicate pregnancy. If you suspect you are pregnant, your first step is to take a pregnancy test. You can find inexpensive home tests in many drugstores or you could come to the Pregnancy Help Center for free and confidential pregnancy testing.

How Does a Pregnancy Test Work?

When a woman becomes pregnant, her body begins producing a pregnancy hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). As the pregnancy progresses, the hormone builds up in her body and can be detected in blood and urine. If a pregnancy test detects hCG, it will turn positive.

Can I Take a Home Pregnancy Test?

Home pregnancy tests are reliable, but you must follow the directions carefully.

If you take a home test, here are the recommended steps you should follow:

  • Make sure the test date isn’t expired
  • Follow the directions exactly – wait the appropriate amount of time before checking the results
  • Wait until the day of your missed period or a few days later to take the test
  • Test in the morning when your urine is the most concentrated

Our clinical pregnancy tests are more accurate than home tests primarily because of the experience and frequency in which our licensed medical professionals administer tests. Plus we regularly update our test kits for optimum freshness and accuracy.

How Do I Get Free Pregnancy Testing?

We offer confidential, free urine pregnancy testing; we do not administer blood testing. Call (310) 787-4357 (HELP) to make an appointment or schedule an appointment online. We’ve administered hundreds of tests, so you can be confident your results will be accurate.

This can be a stressful time, but we are here to help. Our medical professional will administer your pregnancy test confidentially, without judgment.

What Do I Do If the Test is Positive?

A positive pregnancy test is only an indication of a possible pregnancy. We can schedule you for a free and confidential ultrasound* to confirm it. We can discuss your options if the ultrasound exam confirms a growing pregnancy.
